Seoul Arts Center
Music, performing arts and exhibitions are spread across several buildings in this cultural complex.
Why choose this place
For building a visit around a performance or exhibition: music and art venues share one cultural complex.
Make the most of your visit
Check the name of your venue before arrival. The outdoor plaza is a place to rest and enjoy the architecture.
Stories from the record
An arts complex built in stages
Kim Seok-chul led the architectural design. The music and calligraphy facilities opened in 1988, followed by other venues; the Opera House completed the full opening in 1993. Different arts acquired their homes over several years.
Different arts need different rooms
A concert hall and an art gallery have different needs for sound, light and movement. Explore how the complex accommodates them. Understanding each building's purpose makes their relationship clearer than memorizing venue names.
The experience extends beyond the stage
Courtyards and passages are places to wait, meet and talk. These moments are part of an evening at the arts center. Arrive with time to compare entrances and outdoor spaces as well as the auditorium.
