Stories from the record
The lake was part of a river landscape
The Songpa ferry landing once served people crossing the river here. Today's calm lake conceals a history of transport and trade. Old maps show that the boundaries of water and land were not always the same.
Development reshaped the water
Jamsil development in the 1970s altered the river and surrounding land, creating the lake's form. Today's east and west lakes are linked with park paths. Read them as traces of urban transformation rather than untouched nature.
Different periods reflected in still water
Modern towers and amusement facilities now surround the lake. Walk around it and watch the same building change with angle and light. A former crossing place has become a place for walking and rest.
