Stories from the record
A mountain named after a camel
Its rounded form was compared with a camel's back, giving rise to the name Naktasan. Names reveal how people read terrain. Though modest in height, this eastern hill mattered within the capital's mountain-and-wall system.
A residential hillside becomes a park
Apartments and houses transformed the hill from the 1960s onward. Restoration and greening led to Naksan Park in 2002. Modern residential memories sit alongside older walls and landscape.
Compare both sides of the wall
A former urban boundary now offers views across neighboring districts. Look at stone sizes and masonry as well as the skyline. Different repairs and restorations become visible in what first seems like a single continuous wall.
