Leeum Museum of Art

Traditional and contemporary art share a museum whose varied buildings and interiors are part of the experience.

Notice light and ceiling heights between artworks, and check exhibitions and reservations in advance.
Stories from the record
Three architects meet in one museum
Mario Botta, Jean Nouvel and Rem Koolhaas designed connected but distinct buildings. Rather than seeking one uniform exterior, compare their materials and forms. Architecture itself becomes part of the visit.
An open center connects the route
Botta's rotunda, a circular space with a glazed skylight, anchors the lobby. Stairs and galleries connect around it. Notice the changing light and views between floors: an empty volume can organize a building.
Walking between periods of art
The lobby also links Korean traditional art with modern and contemporary works. Compare materials, surfaces and colors across periods. Exhibitions change, but moving between different times remains central to the experience.
