Seonyudo Park

An old water-treatment plant became this island park. Gardens and paths occupy the former concrete facilities.
Why choose this place
For a park with a transformation story: gardens weave through concrete structures from a former water treatment plant.
Make the most of your visit
Look for old columns and water channels, and notice how industrial structures now coexist with plants.
Stories from the record
An island that supplied tap water
From 1978 to 2000, Seonyudo operated as a water-treatment plant serving southwestern Seoul. Concrete structures around the gardens are traces of this work, not merely decorative ruins.
Reuse instead of complete demolition
After the plant closed, existing structures were adapted into an ecological park in 2002. Plants and paths were added around industrial remains. Keeping older elements gave the park its distinctive character.
Gardens between old columns
Walls and columns reveal the scale of former treatment spaces. Plants now occupy them, bringing past function and present use into one view. Compare concrete surfaces and leaves to notice different rhythms of aging and growth.
